What is graphic design?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Graphic design is everywhere. It influences everything we see. Design exists in various forms such as digital (websites, computer interfaces, film titling and on-air television graphics), print (books, posters, magazines, diagrams, advertisements, annual reports and logos) and environmental work (signage and installations). Designers use graphics, images and typography creatively to educate and deliver specific messages for an audience. Since there is always a need for visual communication, people with design experience have many career opportunities. A designer can work in a variety of places such as museums or other public institutions, advertising agencies, design firms and large corporations.
Designers can educate our society on issues that are significant or controversial, issues such as affirmative action or freedom of speech. By creating materials that evoke individual sensibilities, designers can enable audiences to change. |
